Overview

We are looking for a Senior Data Migration Engineer with strong Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL/Amazon Aurora expertise to support residual migration, stored-procedure conversion, database performance optimization and AWS DMS-based migration activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Support MS SQL Server → Aurora PostgreSQL migration and modernization.
• Review and optimize converted T-SQL → PL/pgSQL stored procedures.
• Analyze SQL execution plans and identify query/index bottlenecks.
• Perform PostgreSQL performance tuning using EXPLAIN ANALYZE, pgstatstatements and autoexplain.
• Configure and optimize PgBouncer / RDS Proxy connection pooling.
• Support AWS DMS full-load and CDC migration.
• Use AWS SCT for schema/code conversion where required.
• Perform data validation, reconciliation and migration troubleshooting.
• Support Aurora read replicas, HA and replication strategies.
• Conduct database benchmarking and capacity planning for high-concurrency workloads.
• Build database monitoring, alerting and performance dashboards.

Required Skills

• Strong SQL Server + T-SQL experience.
• Deep PostgreSQL/Aurora PostgreSQL expertise.
• Hands-on MS SQL → PostgreSQL migration experience.
• AWS DMS and AWS SCT.
• Stored procedure conversion: T-SQL → PL/pgSQL.
• Query optimization and execution-plan analysis.
• PgBouncer / RDS Proxy.
• Aurora PostgreSQL performance tuning.
• CDC and full-load migration.
• Database performance under high concurrency/burst traffic.

Important

This should not be treated as a generic DBA profile. The person needs actual migration + PostgreSQL performance engineering experience. The SOW specifically requires both residual migration support and Aurora performance optimization.
