Overview

The Tester / QA Engineer is responsible for ensuring software quality by validating that features meet functional, non-functional, integration, and regression requirements before release. The role involves executing manual and automated testing, validating APIs and backend services, identifying defects, and working closely with developers and product teams to deliver high-quality software in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing for web applications and backend services.
• Design, create, and maintain test cases and test scenarios based on business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Perform exploratory testing to identify edge cases, usability issues, and unexpected application behavior.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using approved automation frameworks and tools.
• Validate APIs, data integrity, and error handling using API testing tools.
• Log, track, verify, and retest defects, providing detailed reproduction steps and supporting evidence.
• Support release readiness by validating bug fixes, performing regression testing, and providing test sign-off.
• Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, and product owners throughout sprint cycles to clarify requirements and improve quality.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, estimation, retrospectives, and risk identification.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, testing processes, release procedures, and best practices.

Required Skills

• Experience
  • 3–6+ years of experience in Software Testing / Quality Assurance.
  • Strong experience in manual testing methodologies and defect lifecycle management.
  • Experience testing web applications and backend services.
  • Ability to convert business requirements and user stories into comprehensive test cases and test coverage.
• Test Automation
  • Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or equivalent.
  • Experience in API testing using Postman, REST clients, or automated API testing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with maintaining automated test suites as part of CI/CD pipelines.
• Database & Environment Management
  • Experience validating application data using SQL queries.
  • Experience working across development, testing, and staging environments.
  • Understanding of test data management and environment constraints.
• Agile & Quality Practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams supporting sprint-based software delivery.
  • Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira, TestRail, or similar.
• Communication & Collaboration
  • Experience working with distributed or offshore delivery teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in documenting defects and communicating quality risks.
  • Ability to follow established testing processes, quality standards, and release governance.
